Read one chapter at a time. Each section is designed to answer one precise question.

AION 2’s Closet changes how your character looks without altering the stats of equipped gear. It is also a permanent collection: each appearance earned through gameplay can grant points that increase Attack or Defense.

You can therefore pursue an outfit for its style, progression value or both. Appearances purchased with real money remain cosmetic and do not contribute to the collection bonuses observed on the Asian versions.

This guide reflects the Korean and Taiwanese versions. Names, costs and rates must be verified at global launch.

Closet and collection: two connected functions

The Closet applies a visual to each slot independently of the item providing your actual stats. You can keep your strongest gear while mixing any unlocked appearance pieces.

Collection progress is calculated separately for weapons and each armor slot. Armor appearances increase Defense, while weapon appearances increase Attack. For weapons, only appearances compatible with the relevant class contribute to its effect.

On the Asian version shown here, 1 collection point equals a 0.1% effect. Rarity determines the points gained from a new appearance: Common gives 1 point, Rare 2, Epic 3, Unique 4 and Heroic 5. A Unique weapon appearance therefore adds 0.4% in its category. The overall percentage shown by the menu is rounded.

An appearance does not need to be equipped for its collection effect to apply. Owning it is enough.

Unlock an equipment appearance

The main method is to extract equipment you no longer need. Extraction provides its usual materials and can also register the item’s appearance in the Closet. For many dropped items, that unlock is not guaranteed.

The rate depends on the item and should be checked before confirming. In the example shown, extracting Unique-grade gloves has a 10% chance to add their appearance. Do not apply that rate to every item: open the reward details for the exact value of the selected piece.

Before extracting anything:

  1. check whether the item is required by an active Supply Request
  2. confirm that it is not an upgrade or valuable inheritance material
  3. check whether its appearance is missing from your Closet
  4. only then extract manually or configure automatic extraction.

Automatic extraction is convenient during long sessions, but it should exclude Supply Request items and grades you want to inspect manually.

Other appearance sources

Expeditions and other PvE activities provide plenty of equipment to extract. Events, passes, activity shops and Black Cloud Traders also offer appearances, with some catalogues rotating regularly.

The premium shop sells outfits, weapons, accessories and complete sets. These purchases are not required to develop collection effects. Do not confuse an appearance with physical character customization either: changing the face or body shape uses a separate service.

Recycle duplicates through synthesis

Once an appearance is registered, additional copies become synthesis materials. The system combines several appearances of one rarity to produce a random appearance, sometimes from the next grade.

Your first owned copy is protected: it stays available in the Closet and cannot be consumed by synthesis. An equipped or dyed copy must also be unequipped or have its dye removed for free before it becomes eligible material.

Each synthesis attempt uses four appearances. The displayed upgrade rate depends on their grade: the captured interfaces show 25% with Common appearances and 20% with Rare appearances. Auto Register can prepare several attempts in sequence.

A successful upgrade can provide an appearance missing from your collection. A failed upgrade does not necessarily leave you with nothing: the result can still be a new appearance from the grade used. Treat synthesis as duplicate recycling, not as a reason to buy rare pieces impulsively.

Sharing between characters and dyes

Since the January 2026 Korean update, ordinary owned appearances are shared among characters on the same server. Collection effects are recalculated from that shared total. Special-grade appearances remain character-specific, while weapon effects continue to be calculated per class.

Dyes are shared as well. Changing the color of an appearance used by several characters updates it for all of them. Owning several copies of the same visual lets you preserve different color variants.

The editor separates dye into several zones and also offers materials and patterns. Customization can cost premium currency, so preview every zone before confirming and use discount periods when there is no urgency.

These rules must be confirmed for the global server structure, particularly how it distinguishes server, account and region.

An efficient collection strategy

Begin by extracting Common gear obtained in large quantities while leveling. Let rare appearances arrive naturally through dungeons and synthesis before buying missing pieces one by one.

To identify missing items, check the detailed appearance or transmog list. The effect summary mostly shows point totals and is not always enough to locate one absent piece.

A sensible priority is:

  1. easy appearances from quests and leveling
  2. duplicates recycled through synthesis
  3. equipment from instances you farm regularly
  4. activity shops and rotating merchants when prices are reasonable
  5. final missing appearances only after your economy is stable.

Collection is a marathon. Early points are inexpensive; chasing the final high-grade appearance immediately can consume a large amount of Kina for a marginal gain.

What we will verify at global launch

We will confirm official English names, extraction rates, synthesis costs, the value of each rarity, sharing between characters and the exact list of appearances excluded from collection effects.
