Kina and alts: protect your economy
How to fund your main character, give each alt a purpose and avoid wasting Kina on temporary upgrades.

Read one chapter at a time. Each section is designed to answer one precise question.
Creating several characters at launch can feel productive. In practice, it often divides your time and money between unfinished progression paths. Build a stable main character first, then create alts with one clear purpose.
Understand the two types of Kina
Bound and tradable Kina do not have the same value. Bound currency pays for character progression but cannot freely circulate through player trading. Tradable Kina supports the Auction House and the wider economy.
This distinction limits strategies based on leveling many characters only to transfer their wealth. Before planning an alt economy, verify which rewards are transferable and which limits apply to the whole account or server.
Put the main character first
Complete important limited activities and permanent systems on your main before switching characters. A main that reaches new content generates better opportunities than several alts repeating low-level routines.
An alt becomes useful when it targets a profession, a transferable resource or one specific activity. It should solve a problem for the account, not become a second main by accident.
Avoid re-enchanting every replacement
Kina spent on enchanting is not refunded. Repeatedly improving temporary gear, then replacing it after a minor item-level increase, is one of the fastest ways to damage your economy.
Before investing, ask how long you will keep the item, which content the upgrade unlocks and whether the same money could strengthen a permanent system. If the answer is only “the number becomes slightly larger,” wait.
Separate your budget into three parts
Keep one reserve for mandatory progression, one for planned opportunities and one for comfort purchases. Mandatory spending covers systems needed to enter or clear content. Opportunity money is available for a genuinely underpriced material or lasting upgrade. Comfort money pays for cosmetics and conveniences without threatening progression.
The amounts can change every week. The separation matters more than the exact percentages because it prevents one impulsive purchase from consuming everything.
Measure a purchase by the content it unlocks
A good expense solves a visible problem. It may provide enough accuracy for a boss, enough defense to survive a mechanic or the final material required for a lasting craft.
A poor expense copies another player without considering your own build. Gear Score alone does not prove that a purchase improves the activity you actually play.
Give every alt a written job
Decide why an alt exists before funding it. A gathering alt needs access to its route and the tools required for that profession. A dungeon alt needs only enough gear for its assigned content.
The warning sign is gradual expansion: one extra enchantment becomes a complete equipment set, then a second weekly routine and finally another character competing with your main for every resource.
Use the Auction House with a rule
Compare unit prices rather than stack totals and avoid the unstable prices of the first launch days. Buy materials for an existing plan instead of stockpiling everything that looks cheap.
Review your economy once per week. Record what produced tradable Kina, which expenses unlocked meaningful progress and what should be delayed. This turns repeated small purchases into visible decisions and keeps every alt aligned with its purpose.
The global version may change currency restrictions and account-wide limits. Confirm them in the interface before building an economy around behavior observed in Korea or Taiwan.
