Pet collection: obtaining, leveling and Genus Insight

In AION 2, each pet species has one collection entry. Unlocking that entry and improving the pet adds permanent owned effects. Those bonuses remain active when a different companion is equipped.

This guide reflects the current Korean and Taiwanese versions. The global release may change names, required quantities or acquisition sources.

Understand the two progression layers

Every individual pet has a maximum level of 5. Its owned effects begin before that cap and improve at each level.

Collecting more souls from the same species does not create several copies of that pet. The souls fill its single collection entry and allow it to reach the next level.

Pets also belong to families. Genus Insight▣Genus InsightThis interface upgrades a pet family and grants additional bonuses. is the in-game interface used to upgrade the level of those families. Each family can reach level 10 and uses Soul Crystals plus Kina to analyze statistical effects. Souls improve one specific pet entry, while Soul Crystals develop an entire family. Family level does not depend on owning several copies.

How to obtain pets

Your first pet arrives through the story around level 10. After that, many creatures encountered in the world have their own collection entry. Defeating the relevant monster progresses its entry or grants the souls required to summon and improve it.

Open a locked pet’s page and check its source before farming. Some creatures appear in a specific region, instance or opposing-faction area. Growth chests from daily or weekly activities can provide another regular source.

Events and the shop may offer special companions. Check their owned effects in the global interface before buying and never assume a paid cosmetic replaces the broader collection.

Raise a pet to level 5

Continue defeating the same species and validate upgrades in the pet menu. Its souls progress the creature’s single entry toward the level 5 cap. Each level requires more souls than the previous one.

In this example, the Drana Predator is level 2 with 5 of the 50 required souls. The right panel previews its path to level 5, including mount sprint efficiency, Evasion, Constitution, Willpower and a family damage bonus.

Do not begin with the longest possible farm. Improve convenient species found along your quest routes, then target levels that provide useful stats for your character. The Asian version has already reduced several collection requirements, so trust the in-game gauge rather than an old table.

Once a pet reaches level 5, additional souls can contribute Soul Crystals for its family. Farming that creature is therefore still useful when its family is your current priority.

Raise a family to level 10 with Genus Insight

Analysis consumes Soul Crystals and Kina, adds experience to the selected family and rolls random statistics in the unlocked slots. More slots become available as the family approaches level 10.

A strong line can be locked so later analyses do not replace it. Locks increase the cost of future rolls, so we recommend gaining family levels before protecting ordinary results. Lock an exceptional stat or wait until you approach your target level.

Multiple presets and an automatic analysis option are visible in the interface. Configure the desired result carefully before using automation because every attempt consumes the resources displayed at the bottom.

Why the collection matters

Owned effects from different unlocked and upgraded pets accumulate. They do not depend on owning several copies of the same pet. Across many entries, small bonuses to attack, health, critical, accuracy, evasion or resistance become a significant source of permanent power.

All developed families contribute to the character, so this is not a choice between one active specialization. On the recent Asian version, pet progress is shared between characters on the same server. We will confirm whether the global version includes that behavior at launch.

During leveling, kill convenient groups and inspect new entries regularly. At endgame, select a few accessible pets with useful next-level bonuses, claim collection milestones and keep a Kina reserve for Genus analysis.

The pet you ride expresses your style. The pets you collect strengthen the character. Start early, progress steadily and verify global values before committing to a long farm.
